4684348 Oil Filter: Solving Maintenance Pain Points + Standard Installation Guide

1. Model Verification: Confirm the filter is marked "4684348" and compatible with the corresponding Hitachi excavator model;

2. Component Inspection: Check that the rubber sealing ring at the bottom of the filter is free of damage and deformation;

3. Tool Preparation: Prepare a filter wrench, a clean rag, the same type of engine oil, and an oil drain pan.

 

Step 2: Remove the Old Filter and Clean Thoroughly

1. Safe Shutdown: Turn off the engine and wait for more than 30 minutes to cool down, then operate after relieving pressure;

2. Remove the Old Filter: Place an oil drain pan to catch oil, use a wrench to loosen the old filter counterclockwise, then unscrew it by hand;

3. Clean the Mounting Seat: Wipe off oil stains and impurities on the surface and sealing surface of the mounting seat to ensure it is flat.

Step 3: Install the New Filter with Proper Operation

1. Lubricate the Sealing Ring: Apply engine oil evenly on the sealing ring to reduce friction and enhance sealing;

2. Hand-Tighten: Align with the threads and rotate clockwise by hand until the sealing ring fits the mounting seat (you will feel resistance);

3. Tool Reinforcement: Rotate an additional 2/3 turn with a wrench; avoid over-tightening which may cause component damage.
